Blog 3 Professional Development Midpoint Review
As of today, I have completed 76 hours of instructional hours to date. Due to work
computer issues had to wait until October
9, 2017, to resume my quest of recording
the databases related to fingerprints. I have learned to expect the unexpected
when it comes to computers because you never know when the system will
malfunction! However, learned to work around adverse situations by
communicating with the subject matter expert on the material she wanted to
include in the video training for her students. Concluded not to film the
entire work office for privacy-related
issues and stick to the lesson plan on A.F.I.X. and
A.F.I.S only to eliminate any confusion. In deciding how to present the videos,
concluded still shots were not as effective as watching the process in action.
So, removed the still shots and recorded the simulation live to upload to the
video presentation. Students can virtually see how the process works and see in
real time what it takes to examine fingerprints. The process is very tedious
when working with limited equipment to record the information needed to present
in the video. Took some time to replay and redo videos that did not quite show
the entire process accurately. Furthermore, wanted to assess the students’ knowledge through
video quizzes within the presentation. I thought this would keep the students
focused on watching the video and provided the students a great chance to
reflect throughout the video presentation Secondly, creating the evaluation
form was fun because I could use google forms to embed the questions about the training. I have submitted to the
practicum supervisor the questions I wish to use the video training video.
Overall to date, still needing to record the A.F.I.S system and present to the subject
matter expert the presentation for final review to make any other edits or
additions. I look forward to the student’s feedback on the video project to
learn the needs of the students and assessment of the learning material.
