Blog #4 Professional Development Process/Presentation Day

As of today, I have now fully completed my 100 instructional hours. The professional development was met with challenges, but the overall experience was very educational. In the beginning, learned how to adequately communicate with the latent print examiner on her educational needs for the students regarding her intentions on how to present the A.F.I.X./A.F.I.S. programs. By sharing ideas on what format should be done to deliver the presentation was very beneficial in determining what web point 2.0 tools would efficiently work in showing the programs. So, I took her feedback and started working on ways to deliver the programs outside the agency to the classroom. Initially, began the development process by just taking screenshots and going back over those screenshots to show the fingerprint process. Notably, after I created the first presentation, explained the concept to the latent print examiner who was somewhat impressed by how the video presentation was heading. However, I felt the...

Blog 3 Professional Development Midpoint Review

As of today, I have completed 76 hours of instructional hours to date. Due to work computer issues had to wait until October 9, 2017, to resume my quest of recording the databases related to fingerprints. I have learned to expect the unexpected when it comes to computers because you never know when the system will malfunction! However, learned to work around adverse situations by communicating with the subject matter expert on the material she wanted to include in the video training for her students. Concluded not to film the entire work office for privacy-related issues and stick to the lesson plan on A.F.I.X. and A.F.I.S only to eliminate any confusion. In deciding how to present the videos, concluded still shots were not as effective as watching the process in action. So, removed the still shots and recorded the simulation live to upload to the video presentation. Students can virtually see how the process works and see in real time what it takes to examine fingerprints. The proces...

Blog Post #2 Professional Development Report 1

I have accomplished to date constructing part one of the professional development report. The letter took approximately four hours to create and edit. Learning to revert to other previous professional memos produced throughout the instructional curriculum prepared me for the development of the memo. The tools learned enabled me to develop a professional memo to explain the importance of making a video to showcase the fingerprint process. Applied the course lectures related to content delivery, formative assessment, and the 21 st -century learning model to construct my professional memo. The memo addressed the instructors need of adding technology to the instructional content and addressed how students need real world content to make a connection to the instructional material. Also, provided an outline of the items that are to be included in the virtual office video tour. Overall, developing the professional memo brought back memories from past courses where I could reflect on the dev...

Blog Post #1 Development Stage

Currently, have spoken with my instructor to present ideas on where I will be completing my practicum. The current challenge is deciding whether to complete my internship at my place of work or go outside the work area to complete my professional internship. In speaking with the instructor, provided excellent advice to try to finish my internship within my department. Notably, presented with the opportunity to work with the fingerprint examiner who is teaching fingerprints this year at a university in Montgomery, AL. In showing the course of action needed to complete my practicum application, the examiner came up with the idea of assisting her with creating a presentation that can be displayed in her class when she teaches about the A.F.I.X database.  The teacher wants a virtual video produced by the fingerprint office and embed various snapshots of the fingerprint process.  She needs a visual to go along with her discussion related to the real world of fingerprints. I h...
